Subin received his doctorate in chemistry from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, in 2016. During his PhD, he was actively characterizing various finished and semi-finished polymer products using spectroscopic and chromatographic methods at the Fraunhofer LBF institute. Since 2016, he joined Tosoh Bioscience GmbH as a product specialist and currently working as commercial product manager for GPC/SEC instruments, columns, and detectors produced by Tosoh.

Molecular tale of polymers narrated by SEC/GPC with advanced detection

Size exclusion chromatography, combined with advanced detectors like light scattering, viscometer, and refractive index, is a powerful tool for characterizing macromolecules such as polysaccharides, proteins, and synthetic (bio)polymers. This technique elucidates the structure, conformation, and side chain branching of polymers by providing molecular sizes like radius of gyration (Rg) and hydrodynamic radius (Rh), along with intrinsic viscosity. These characteristics are essential for understanding the chemical and physical properties of polymer chains in solution, aiding in the development of structure-property relationships. This talk highlights the theory of triple detection SEC/GPC and its application in analyzing various polymers .
